3D printer printed two-story building November 26, 2019 | 12:45 / Technological innovations

Chinese engineers have created an industrial 3D printer that can print the main structure of an office two-story building. The device, tested at a construction site located in the Chinese province of Guangdong, brings the construction industry closer to a significant technological breakthrough.

A 3D printer capable of printing entire buildings was built by China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC), according to planet-today.ru. This is a real breakthrough in the creation of building structures using three-dimensional printing technology.

"This is the first two-story building on the planet, created using a 3D printer directly at the construction site. Using the technology that has been demonstrated in Guangdong can save up to sixty percent of building materials, plus this solution seriously reduces costs and energy costs," - CSCEC officials say, noting that the construction process can be fully automated and the life of a building built with a 3D printer will be at least fifty years old.

CSCEC has already filed thirteen patents describing the use of three-dimensional printing in construction. The technology, accordingly, will soon be available in the global market.
