World Communication Conference continues its work November 22, 2019 | 08:42 / Conferences, assemblies

Held in Sharm el-Sheikh (Egypt), the World Communication Conference continues its work. Azerbaijan at the event is represented by employees of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, as well as the State Radio Frequency Administration of the Ministry.

During the conference, representatives of 193 member states of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) discuss issues of new technologies in the field of radio communications, in particular, the allocation of radio frequencies for 5G technology, which will be widely introduced by 2020, new band frequencies for stations on high-altitude platforms, as well as regulatory measures to support the use of new and improved technologies for satellite applications. An exchange of views is also being held on the definition of radio frequencies for innovative radio technologies being implemented in various fields, and on the establishment of coordination between countries in their implementation and other relevant issues. The conference also discusses the prospects for future technological transformation.

In conclusion, documents prepared by working groups are approved by committees and submitted to plenary meetings. This contributes to the global harmonization of radio frequencies that will be used in new radio systems in the future.

The World Radiocommunication Conference will complete its work later this week.

Note that the World Radiocommunication Conference is a high-level event held every four years. If necessary, the revision of the ITU radiocommunication rules, international treaties governing the use of the radio frequency spectrum and satellite orbits is also within its competence.

Recall that Azerbaijan is actively involved in the work of the organization. So, for the first time, 3 representatives of the Azerbaijan Communications Administration were approved for leadership positions in research groups of the Communication Bureau of the International Telecommunication Union.
