An international team of researchers under the auspices of the University of Edinburgh has developed a prototype of the Trimbot gardening robot that can mow lawns and care for flower gardens.
The basis of Trimbot is the Bosch robotic lawnmower. The creators of the robot tried to create a device that will help maintain order in parks and other public places, and will also help older people and people with disabilities to care for their gardens.

Trimbot is battery powered and equipped with five pairs of stereo cameras for navigation and a flexible manipulator with various devices. It is pre-programmed taking into account an approximate digital map of a particular garden, which the computer vision system compares and refines during the course of work for better orientation. The robot’s computer contains algorithms that tell you how, for example, an ideal bush looks, which helps Trimbot to trim it correctly.

In recent years, many agricultural robots have been created, such as, for example, the strawberry-picking robot or its “colleague,” caring for extensive crops around the clock. Although, as practice shows, their skills they still do not reach the average employee. Work in the garden has some features - in particular when caring for many types of plants, it requires considerable care and accuracy.
