Israeli startup Skyline Robotics has developed robots for washing windows of skyscrapers. The CEO of the company, Yaron Schwarz, spoke about this in an interview with CNN.

The Skyline Robotics device is a launching platform, similar to those on which window washers go down the skyscraper. Kuka's robotic arms and computer vision systems are attached to the platforms instead.

The platform is equipped with motion sensors and fixation of obstacles - this will allow the device to avoid collisions with open windows. In addition, to get started, a 3D building model must be loaded into the device in order for the algorithms to pre-construct the route of the platform.

At the same time, the automation of the process of washing windows of skyscrapers does not mean that the company is going to abandon human labor. Skyline Robotics will continue to hire window washers, only now they will control the system remotely, rather than washing windows and risking their lives.

Recently, a Latvian startup Aerones introduced a drone, which in the future may also replace climbers for window cleaning. Drones-washers during testing coped with their task 20 times faster than professionals, and were able to do it in windy weather and even at night. The drone will have 12 motors - this will allow it to rise to a height of 350 m. The weight of the device will be 55 kg, and the width will be 3 m. At the same time, the drone will still need an operator who will remotely control his work.
