The American company Edelman conducted a sociological study to compare the assessment of artificial intelligence (AI) through the eyes of ordinary citizens and the leadership of companies involved in the development and implementation of modern computer technology. Such a perception for both groups of respondents turned out to be to a large extent similar and wary.

More than 70% of those and others believe that devices using artificial intelligence will reduce the need for people to communicate and make them more closed. 71% of members of the public fear that the emergence of an advanced artificial intelligence will lead to a decrease in the mental abilities of citizens; among IT managers, 65% agree with this.

43% of both groups of respondents believe that poor people will only get worse with the development of AI. And the fact that it will be beneficial to high-income groups of the population, believes 67% of the public and 75% of specialists.

The majority of survey participants (54% of the management of IT companies and 60% of ordinary citizens) believe that the technologies of artificial intelligence should be developed under the control of state bodies. Only 5% of ordinary respondents and 6% expressed the opposite opinion and their belief in the complete safety of the AI.
