On March 1 the opening of the EU-funded project "Strengthening Research, Development and Innovation in Azerbaijan’s Higher Education" was held.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the project, Deputy Minister of Education Firudin Gurbanov noted the importance of science in the world community, said that, Azerbaijan at the state level pays special attention to this area. As a result of this, on January 10, 2019, President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on ensuring coordination in the field of innovative development in Azerbaijan.

In his speech, F.Gurbanov stressed that, the project “Strengthening Research, Development and Innovation in Azerbaijan’s Higher Education”, implemented jointly with the EU and provides for the creation of conditions for managing research and innovations in the higher education system, strengthening capacities to support research and development the formation of a modern educational program at the doctoral level.

In turn, ANAS Vice-President, academician Isa Habibbeyli noted that the national legislation of Azerbaijan creates ample opportunities for innovation.

Further, academician-secretary of ANAS, academician Rasim Alguliyev noted that the project is aimed at the development of the education system in the republic and reflects the support of the EU to our country.

At the event, director of ANAS High Technologies Park, Ph.D. in Economy Nazim Shukurov said that a number of measures were taken to integrate science and business at the institution, as well as to commercialize science.
