AI has learned to determine the character of a person in the eyes September 27, 2018 | 10:46 / Interesting information

Now artificial intelligence can learn about your character, just looking in your eyes.

The algorithms of machine learning demonstrate the connection between the movements of the eyes and the four personality traits from the "Big Five".

In a joint project of the University of South Australia and the University of Stuttgart, artificial intelligence and video reference points from SensorMotoric Instruments were used, followed the movements of the eyes of 42 participants, reports CNET.

The researchers checked the data with questionnaires. From the "big five" personality traits (openness to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion, benevolence, neuroticism), artificial intelligence was able to firmly define four: neuroticism, extraversion, benevolence and conscientiousness.

According to the research, eye movements for identification of personality traits were used for the first time, which is already interesting. But the ultimate goal, according to Tobias Lotcher of the University of South Australia, is to improve the future interaction between man and machine.

"People are always looking for improvement and personalization of services, but today's robots and computers do not" know "the society, so they can not adapt to non-verbal signals.

"This research opens up opportunities for developing robots and computers in such a way that they can better interpret social signals of a person," he added.
