On the site of the sunken Spanish Galleon San Jose in the Caribbean Sea, which had gone under water 310 years ago, treasures were discovered. The so-called Holy Grail of shipwrecks found the underwater robot Remus 6000.

The device used the same methods as during the search for the wreckage of the Air France 447, which crashed off the coast of Brazil in 2009. The mechanism itself is equipped with sensors and cameras and can be submerged under water for 6.44 km.

Remus 6000 is used by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute in Massachusetts. He discovered the sunken ship at a depth of 609 m. The underwater robot scanned the seabed with the help of a distant sonar and photographed all the unusual objects.

On the found sunken guns were engraved dolphins - the identification mark of the Spanish galleon "San Jose". It was thanks to them that the belonging of the wealth hidden under the water was recognized. The cost of found treasures, including gold, silver and emeralds, is about $ 17 billion.

The ship "San Jose" and its crew of 600 people were defeated by the British naval forces in 1701. The exact place of the crash is kept secret because of disputes over the ownership of the treasure between Colombia and Spain. The ship was discovered in November 2015 off the coast of Cartagena, Colombia, but for three years "out of respect for the Colombian government" details of the search were hidden.
