Artificial intelligence is able to determine the character by the movements of the eyes May 10, 2018 | 10:11 / Technological innovations

Researchers from the University of South Australia applied a method of machine learning to create an artificial intelligence that can recognize the character of a person by the movements of the eyes. The experiment showed: curious people look around more often, and people who are open to new experience, look longer at abstract images, tells The Daily Mail.

The study involved 42 students. Volunteers wore devices that followed the movements of their eyes. Participants also completed questionnaires designed to assess the expression of the five basic personality traits (neuroticism, extraversion, conscientiousness, openness and flexibility).

Researchers found that neurotics blinked faster, open people looked more often at the sides, and in the conscientious the size of the pupils was most noticeable. In addition, the scientists found that optimists looked less at the incentives that cause negative emotions than pessimists. Successfully the computer determined the complaisance, conscientiousness, extraversion and curiosity (7-15% more accurate than with random prediction). Specialists add that the technology needs to be improved.
