A group of researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) showed ink that allows you to recolor objects already printed on a 3D printer.

Technology, which combines the interface of a conventional 3D printer and a special type of ink, is called ColorFab. To activate it, you need a stream of light. The system allows you to dynamically change the appearance of the printed object an unlimited number of times. Müller notes that the technology is very similar to E Ink - the ink used in electronic books.

The ColorLab interface allows the user to first create a 3D model of the object, print it, and then add the desired color. The program allows you to repaint some parts of the object or change the whole color. The formula for unique inks includes base paint, photo source and photochromic ink that change color when exposed to light with a specific wavelength.
