November 17 in Zurich, Switzerland, Mindfire began its work, which will seek the key principles of the human brain. The president of the neurobiologist, Pascal Kaufmann, said that it is necessary to create a real artificial intelligence that can think and act like a person.

The current discrepancy between the work of the human brain and AI is explained by the president of the fund on the example with shoes. Artificial intelligence can distinguish shoes from any other object, but for them their function is exhausted only by the most important thing - the protection of the legs of a person when walking. Beyond this function, shoes for AI do not exist. A man can consider shoes on his own, in isolation from its main purpose. Kaufmann dreams that the AI ​​created by his foundation will also be able to reason this way.

The president of the fund plans to attract the best specialists to work in various fields of knowledge: from biology to mathematics. It is planned that they will create not just an improved artificial intelligence, but an artificial organism. Kaufmann believes that the intellect is not so much the brain itself, as the connection between the brain and the body. The artificial body of the Mindfire Foundation must not only think, but also control itself like a human being.

Kaufmann is sure that the brain is a fully studied system. You just need to find the main principles by which he works. The Fund plans to present the first results of its work in this direction in May 2018.
