Modern data centers consume a lot of energy, store a lot of information, produce complex calculations and, of course, require a very powerful cooling system in order to maintain stable operation of the systems. In this regard, it looks logical to install computers in the cold edges. This is exactly what Kolos, which plans to build the world's largest data storage and processing center in the north of Norway, has decided.

The cold climate of these places will create an extremely efficient cooling system, and many renewable energy sources in this area will provide an opportunity to solve the energy supply problem, hi-news.ru  reports. Representatives of the Kolos company say that all the energy necessary for the functioning of the information data center will be extracted by wind and nearby hydroelectric power stations. Experts estimate that the construction will require about 1000 megawatts of energy per month, but the cold climate of the Arctic will reduce this figure by 60%.

Designers of the company Kolos together with the architects of the Norwegian company HDR have developed a preliminary design of the future structure. In the near future it is planned to approve the plan of the building, all infrastructure elements, auxiliary premises and start construction. According to preliminary calculations, these works will require the participation of about 3,000 workers, and construction will take several years.
