The company "AstroSoft" has created a unique for Russia real-time operating system MAKS. This is a completely Russian product, created from scratch, without using third-party solutions and components. During the press conference in Moscow devoted to this event, the reasons and history of the new OS, its features and advantages, application areas, as well as further plans for its development and improvement were discussed

The key difference between these OS types is that classical general-purpose operating systems are created for people, and real-time OSs are essentially for machines, and they require less human intervention. Their main purpose is to simplify the development of programs. With the help of such OS, the task of the person who creates the new device is greatly simplified. In particular, the real-time OS takes on such functions as the communication between multiple devices. As a result of the fact that routine tasks are taken on by a special OS, it is easier for a person to realize what he wants, and the reliability of a new product increases significantly.
