The next scientific seminar of Department No. 1 of the Institute of Information Technology was held.

Senior research fellow of the Institute Marziya Ismailova presented a report on "Software visualization problems", noted that development of the software systems and operation demands joint cooperation of various fields experts. She said that visualization techniques has been used for programming, understanding and changing of software, as well as to overcome the difficulties that arise when working with code written by the experts from various fields.

Speaking about the problems of the software industry M.Ismayilova noted two main problems related to the software's complexity, the development and modification of software.  She said that the methods that used to solve these problems must be based preventive and confirmative approaches.

The reporter noted that the visualisation of the software systems evolution can be achieved through visualization of the versions of the software systems. She also said that the visualisation of versions included indicators suc as the number of code lines in the specific version of the file in systems, growth percentage and change persentage in the system, defects density and complexity criteria changing.

Visualisation of software evaluation must be made available large-scale information for users and must give opportunity to the users to find descriptions and trends freely, she stated. She spoke about “SeeSoft”, “WinDiff”, “XİA”, “3D SoftVis” tools.
