More than a billion videos with the automatically generated subtitles uploaded to youtube February 23, 2017 | 11:48 / Interesting information

In 2006, Google launched a feature that automatically creates captions on videos that users upload to YouTube. It uses speech recognition technology and the accuracy of the subtitles depends on the quality of the recording.

At the moment, the automatic captions are available for Russian, English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Korean and Japanese languages.

Google has announced this week that YouTube has already downloaded over one billion videos with automatic captions. It was also announced that all these videos are viewed every day more than 15 million times, hi-tech.ua  reports.

Google adds that the company does not cease to work to improve the quality of the automatic creation of subtitles, and speech recognition.
