Neuroscientists have learned to enter the electronics into the brain using a syringe June 22, 2015 | 09:00 / Technological innovations

American scientists have managed to create a grid of flexible wires and electronic components that can be entered with a syringe directly into the brain. A set of flexible electronics is able to connect to nerve cells without harm to their health in order to monitor their condition or even to influence them (for the treatment of Parkinson's disease, for example). About the new technology reported in the journal Nature Nanotechnology.

Understanding how the activity of individual neurons leads to higher forms of nervous activity (perception, thinking, emotions), is a major problem in neurophysiology. From the point of view of technology, its solution requires the device for leading the monitoring of thousands and millions of cells simultaneously. However, modern implants may be difficult to enter into the brain, and their electrodes are perceived as a foreign body and cause irritation. Ultimately the device overgrown tissues and isolated neurons.
